U14 Boys finish league play, winning the Southwest Soccer League with a record of 7-0- 1…

Highlights… April 27, 2013

Avalanche teams played  in Montrose, Ridgway and Durango and, once again, had another successful weekend.


U10 girls

Beat Durango United Spirit  5 – 1,   Shae Vang lead with 3 goals, Josie Coulter had 2

Tied Prostar New Mexico Red 1 – 1, Shae Vang had the goal


U10 Boys


The U10 boys played in Durango on April 27th and split their games.  In the first game they beat Cortez Dynamo 1 by a score of 10-1.  Nick Shearer, Leon Valdez, and Kyle Blakley each scored one goal, Cody Zimmer and JT Imus scored two goals a piece, while Trey Reese scored a hat trick with 3 goals.

The second game against the Durango United Gunners was a close game with a number of lead changes, unfortunately ending with Montrose losing 4-5 on a corner kick in the last minute.  Goals in this game were scored by Leon Valdez, Trey Reese,  and JT Imus.

It has been fun to watch this new team improve and begin to play really well together!

U11 Girls Red


Montrose Avalanche Red U12 Girls had a great weekend coming out with a 4-0 victory! They had great passes and team play. The girls are doing everything we are teaching them to do in practice with awesome execution! -Coach Dunnagan


Saturday Game 1: 8-0 against Crested Butte Blue

Goals were scored by Shayla Geesing, Taylor Hobbs, Esthefania Lopez, Tate Dunnagan, Jasmine Marquez and Elliott Howe.  

Elliott Howe had 1 save as Keeper


Saturday Game 2: 7-0 against Cortez

Goals were scored by Shayla Geesing, Taylor Hobbs and Jasmine Marquez.

Elliott had 4 saves and Tate Dunnagan had 2 saves as Keepers


Sunday Game 1: 4-1 against Telluride Red

Goals were scored by Shayla Geesing and Tate Dunnagan

Elliott Howe had 6 saves and 1 Goal Assist as Keeper


Sunday Game 2: 5-0 against Telluride Black

Goals were scored by Shayla Geesing, Caroline Graham, Taylor Hobbs

Elliott Howe had 2 saves and Georgia Smits had 4 assists as keepers



U12 Girls White

Lost to Crested Butte White   2-1

Tied Crested Butte White 0 -0 


Also played Telluride Red and Black in two “friendlies” on Sunday and won both with shutouts. 


U12 Boys Red

Beat Crested Butte White 6 -1

We had a good game with five different kids scoring.  Alex Roman scored twice for his first goals of the season. Bryan Prado scored his first goal of the season also.  Trevor Jackson, Onesimo Paredes, and Victor Ortega also scored, but the hero of our game was Cayden Christianson.  Cayden had his best game of the season,  he played some incredible defense.  He kept the ball on the attacking third all day long.  – Coach Hilton

U12 Boys White


Beat Crested Butte Blizzard White 6 – 1


The win put us back into first place in the league with two games to go. It is very exciting to watch the boys improve all of their skills each game and to come together as a team. All of the players are improving their individual skills and incorporating them into a team game. – Coach Imus

U14 Boys

Tied Pagosa Rapids FC Pirates 3- 3


The U-14 Boys won the SWSL league with a 7-0-1 record.  The goal scorers with two goals were Brett Byers, Darren Culmer, Osmar Murillo, Jed Sanchez, and Liam Singh while the single goal scorers were Prajwol Chaudhary, Dakota Guidroz, and Jace Zunich.
